The Listening Garden was part of a six week program showcasing the artists and musicians who work for Inscape, an organisation that works within Tasmanian health care settings. The Listening Garden focused on Bec’s work with a bespoke three-tiered garden on a trolley that is wheeled around the wards, collecting stories and connections at the Roy Fagan Centre. 

This garden on a trolley changes each day and season, holding some plants from its original planting and re-purposing in 2021, when it was being discard at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The plants with their scents, blooms and quiet beauty, resilience and growth prompt connections and the outpouring of many stories. Some of these stories find their way into small handmade books, and some prompt further creative actions. 

The garden trolley usually holds over 40 plant types, small books, poems, garden curiosities, along with jars of propagating plants and scented leaves and blooms that can be taken to patient’s noses.

During its week of installation Bec shared stories and observations by a written performance.
